Welcome to Jon's Jeep Thoughts Page...

What are Jeep Thoughts?

They're just my musings on Jeeps, 'wheeling, or life in general...

Solo Wheeling

For me, wheeling alone is something I really enjoy. Yeah, I know, everyone says "always bring another Jeep". That's good advice, but there will always be people like me who prefer the company of nature sometimes. If I was into sailing more (if I could afford it :-), I'd be a single-handed sailer as much as I could be. It's not that I don't enjoy being around people, 'cause I do. I just like being by myself a lot.

So, given that I do this kind of thing, what kind of repercussions can it have? Well, obviously, if you're alone, you need to be much better prepared that people who wheel in groups. You need to be a little more careful, and a lot more resourceful. You need to be aware that you may have to walk out of wherever you are if the bad thing happens.

A satellite phone would be a big bonus for a solo wheeler. A well-equipped Jeep is an absolute must. See my Jeep Dreams page for the goal I am slowly heading towards. Every modification I do to my Jeep, every piece I fabricate or install is a little tiny step in the direction of making myself more self-relient when I'm out there.

The Jeep-List
