What's Left To Do?

Well, for starters, get a higher output alternator :-) The one I have just doesn't cut it. I can weld with it, but it's a real pain in the butt to use it, mostly 'cause it doesn't put out enough amps.

I also need to put a big aluminum heat-sink under my resistors, and maybe even try & find some that have higher ratings. Plus, drill some cooling holes in the box. I've bought a small fuse-holder, which I will be adding real soon now so I can experiment with different sized fuses (I'll start with 20 amps). I also want to replace the #12 wire going from the battery to the alternator with #10 wire.

I may even (if I get ambitious) get a few pairs of heavy-duty quick-disconnect electrical plugs. I'll install a set on my jumper cables, near one end. I will also install just the female half of the plug for my welding terminals. This will allow me to get a better connection between the jumper cables and the alternator/welder, and still have normal jumper-cables for boosting.
